WOTA CORE VALUES
The Wisconsin Occupational Therapy Association Commits to the following
core values as guides for association decisions and actions in pursuing it's
vision, mission, and strategic planning:

(January 2009)

Relevance:
Relevance is required for WOTA to be vital and valued as an organization.
Association work and outcomes must be timely and responsive to consumers, members and other
stakeholders
.

Integrity:
Integrity is critical when communicating, interacting and making decisions. It is
measured by respectful, inclusive, honest, accessible, open accountable and fiscally responsible
behavior
.

Advocacy:
Advocacy is essential so that health, human service and education policies and
legislation effectively meet public need. WOTA contributes the official voice of Occupational
Therapy in Wisconsin.

Professional Development:
Continuing professional development and evidence-based
practice are critical to ensure practitioner competence, association improvement and ultimately
quality service to consumers.

Collaboration:
Broad collaboration of practitioners and strategic partnerships with
stakeholders promotes better decisions, outcomes, and relationships than Individual efforts. Such
mobilization ultimately strengthens both the profession and
 participants.

Volunteerism:
Volunteerism provides evidence of commitment to the profession as
practitioners and students contribute time, talents, and monetary resources to WOTA.

Professional Identity:
Professional identity is fostered by Occupational Therapy education
programs and sustained through professional associations. Because this unique identity and
perspective is ingrained in OT practitioners, it is readily apparent to all who interact with them.
