Advocacy Committee

  • To increase awareness of Occupational Therapy in all practice areas for both the OTA and OT; current and future practitioners through participating in community-based events.

    • To promote OTA/OT practice to share with organizations of potential employment, to share with educational organizations

    • To promote OTA/OT practice to recruit new professionals into the area of OT practice in both the OTA and OT markets throughout the state.

    • To promote OTA/OT practice to consumers to increase potential users of OT services.

    • To promote OTA/OT through community events.

-To actively engage/participate in at least 1 community event a year per region, such as the Alzheimer’s walk.

  • Develop material to educate consumers and organizations about emerging practice areas for OTA/OT practitioners. 

  • To reach out to Wisconsin health, community, and educational systems to provide education about OT services and what we can provide those settings.

  • Through direct in-person 

  • Through social media and videos

  • Through virtual meetings

  • To advertise WOTA involvement in Community events and to recruit OTA/OT and student involvement in said event/s.

  • To advocate for fair and efficient reimbursement of OT services. 

  • To maintain and advance OT practice. In conjunction with our WOTA lobbyist. 

  • To increase WOTA OTA/OT active memberships; in building a strong organization we have a stronger voice for our profession.

Professional Development Committee

  • Examine need areas and provide Professional Development opportunities to members

    • Provide up to 12 CEU’s each year

      • Foster participation and expansion within the Professional Excellence and Leadership series

      • Consider establishment of monthly journal club discussions

  • Examine and offer professional networking opportunities to enhance best practice

    • Establish hot topic discussion sessions

  • To reach out to Wisconsin health, community, and educational systems to provide education about professional development opportunities

    • Develop materials to promote professional development opportunities
